What is it like to work with Walden Homes? Let our customers tell you!
From the street, the house looks as it always has. It blends in perfectly with the other quaint bungalows lining the street. The interior is a different story. The house was completely gutted to make way for a new layout on the main and lower levels.
The entry to the house, the staircase to the lower level and the main-floor hallway were widened to feel open and generous. The kitchen/living room/dining room combination stretch along the back wall of the house and look out onto the private backyard and deck. The master bedroom and luxurious washroom are located at the front of the house, accessed off a private hallway. The lower level contains an entertainment area, office/hobby room, laundry room, a luxury washroom and a small gym. This required excavating 3 feet below the existing basement floor. The unstable soil necessitated helical piers below the foundation of the house. In some areas, we had to go down 30' to find stable soil.
This house represents the leading edge in terms of wiring, control systems, energy efficiency and home comfort systems. An added bonus is the 500 square feet of storage space in the attic, accessible from a pull-down stair.
Walden helped us create such an incredible home. The house is perfect for Ron and me. Bruce came up with some great suggestions on how to make the space work. Danny was always available to take care of every detail, and all of Walden’s trades were really fantastic. Everything worked out exactly the way we wanted.
